Johns Manville Certified GMP for Articles Used for Food Contact in Europe

Johns Manville (JM), a market-leading manufacturer of Continuous Filament Glass Fiber (CFGF) and a Berkshire Hathaway company, announced today its plant in Slovakia received GMP (Good Manufacturing Practice) certification in compliance with the provision of Regulation (EC) No 2023/2006 for the fabrication of CFGF that is intended to be used in contact with food in engineered thermoplastic applications according to EU regulation 10/2011 (plastics regulation). The certification was granted by the certification body TÜV SÜD Slovakia, s.r.o., a member of the TÜV SÜD Group, the world leader in providing of inspection and certification services with long-term experience.

This certification is the first to be granted to a European CFGF manufacturer and demonstrates JM’s excellent manufacturing practice. JM has developed a broad range of performance CFGF grades for various engineered thermoplastics intended to come into contact with food, including ThermoFlow® 674 chopped strands designed for PA and high-heat polymer reinforcements; ThermoFlow® 636 and StarRov® 490 for PP; and ThermoFlow® 601 for PBT/PET.
