Cross-Flo Jacketing

Product Long Description
Johns Manville Cross-Flo® Jacketing is a unique innovation for ambient and hot systems, designed to help mitigate the potential for corrosion under insulation (CUI). It has an embossed pattern engineered to promote cross-directional flow (CDF), providing a path for unwanted liquid to more rapidly reach the low point of a system and exit the jacketing through a weep hole or drainage port. In addition to numerous technical benefits, Cross-Flo Jacketing has a distinctive aesthetic appearance and comes standard with a 3-mil thick polyfilm moisture barrier heat laminated to the interior surface to provide additional protection against corrosion.

Features

Cross-Flo Jacketing

Features

Recommended Uses - Standard outdoor use on all pipe, vertical tank insulation systems up to 8-foot outer diameter, and all horizontal tanks. Indoor insulation system applications up to 8-foot outer diameter where increased damage resistance is desired

CUI Prevention - When a location for water to exit the system, such as a weep hole or drainage port, is provided, JM’s Cross-Flo Jacketing reduces the risk of CUI because the channels between the insulation and the jacketing allow water to flow toward the exit point.

Additional Protection Layer - Features a bare outer surface and comes standard with a 3-mil thick polyfilm moisture barrier heat-laminated to the interior surface to provide additional protection against corrosion of the jacketing and the underlying metal pipe, vessel or equipment.

Easy to Install - Cuts, curls, and handles like other embossed patterns  with minimal change to installed thickness at small, medium, and large sizes.

Longer Lifespan - In conjunction with weep holes or drainage ports, Cross-Flo Jacketing can allow more water to escape an insulation system, as compared to other jacketing, so the system is better protected against CUI, plus associated costly repairs and maintenance.

Polyfilm Moisture Barrier (PFMB) -  engineered three layer coextruded film of polyethylene and Surlyn polymers with a total film thickness of 3 mils (76 µm) that is heat laminated in the factory to the interior surface of aluminum jacketing. JM recommends the use of PFMB on all aluminum jacketing to help prevent pitting, crevice, and galvanic corrosion of the interior surface of the metal jacketing and the insulated pipe, tank, or equipment.

Corrosion Under Insulation (CUI) Resource Library
Thermal insulation is an integral part of the industrial complex. However, even the best designed and installed systems sometimes become compromised, resulting in the presence of water at the pipe surface and the potential for Corrosion under Insulation (CUI). Learn more about CUI and how JM provides the solution.

Insulation Solutions for Cryogenic and LNG Systems
Cryogenic and below-ambient pipe and tank temperatures can drop to -297°F, making a well-designed insulation system critical to ensure safe and efficient operations in an Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) facility. At Johns Manville, we’re here to assist you with all the details you need to properly design, specify and install your cryogenic and LNG application.
