In just six weeks, employees at Johns Manville’s roofing systems plant in Scottsboro, Alabama improved access to the facility by starting – and completing – a whole new roadway.
Part of required investments to relieve traffic congestion and support growing TPO demand, the road was first considered among other options almost a year ago, said Bruce Ringstrand, Director of Operations.
“They were asked to get it done within two months with a viable option identified that could be quickly implemented using our land and at a lower cost than originally proposed,” Ringstrand added.
And they did it.
The capital idea was approved on July 22, 2022, and funding was made available on August 4, 2022. Johns Manville employees quickly dug in to construct the new road access road for the plant.
In a total of 46 business days from start to finish, the road was approved, built, and open for travel.
