Johns Manville is a major employer in many of the communities where we operate, and it is our goal to always be an asset in those areas. In addition to great employment opportunities, we support our communities through employee volunteer programs and in-kind donations. JM encourages employees, their family members and friends to get involved in projects that make a difference. We provide the tools and resources they need to support the organizations they care about most. With that backing, JM employees don't hesitate to jump in when they're needed. From charity race participation and nature trail maintenance to classroom volunteering and more, we're proud of our employees' willingness to serve. Between our Denver-area "STARS" program, volunteer projects at our global plant locations and other community investment efforts, JM employees completed over 12,000 volunteer hours in 2017.
As a company, we obtain a goal that by 2020 we will increase employee volunteerism by 20% from 2015. We are up 27% and counting!
Here are some of the activities that the Roofing Systems Group participated in! More events are still happening so be sure to follow us on all social media channels.
Wish for Wheels
After building bikes for Wish for Wheels yesterday, we delivered them to students in Denver and got to see 52 second graders zoom around on their new Huffy Bicycles!
RE:VISION
While we worked hard, we paved the way for RE:VISION to prepare for this weekend's huge fundraiser that will help them to their goal to help establish a much needed grocery store in a food desert neighborhood in Denver, CO. We also set the stage for their event to be successful in their fundraising efforts this weekend so they can continue to plant urban gardens in SW Metro Denver families yards (like our own) to help families have immediate access to nutritious home grown vegetables to eat, share, can and educate friends, family and children on how to garden. RE:VISION has grown from seven gardens when it began to over 2,000 gardens this year. I am sure this weekend's event will help them to raise funds to increase that number again in 2019.
